Empowered Women Empower Women
As a (recently new) mom of a daughter, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how we can celebrate women — how can we encourage them to be their best selves. Starting this business and being in a whole new world full of boss babes, I found myself among some of the kindest, most admirable women, whom I look up to. Being surrounded by these women has made me feel empowered and able to inspire confidence in others. At the same time, I also find myself among women who are prettier, smarter, more articulate than I — all striving for one goal: to be the best (in their industry, among their competitors, etc).
I think it’s human instinct to compete: in sports, among men, in school, among friends, on social media, and of course, in business. We hop on social media and find our self esteem dropping and comparison increasing. We find ourselves competing for the same customers, same friends, same number of ‘likes’, further separating us from the sisterhood of strong women that we are and the potential we have together. What if we decided to look at each other’s successes, and be proud?
With a new year around the corner, I challenge you to look at her success as your own. Let’s stop the comparison and start the empowerment. Let’s be raw, share how we got where we are, and help others along their journey. Because it surely wasn’t easy, and it surely was NOT as beautiful as it looks in the end. And maybe it doesn’t turn out at all.
But no matter what happens, we need to remember that there’s enough success and confidence in this world for all of us. So let’s help each other out, lift each other up, be advocates for each other. Let’s look at each woman’s success as inspiring potential for our own. When we’re empowered, we can empower others.
We all have doubts. We all have struggles. But we all have each other, too.
Let’s empower the world, together.
Xoxo, Emily
