Lingerie Care 101

Pretty lacy pieces deserve special care, but it doesn't have to be complicated. We recommend washing your lingerie by hand as it often features delicate laces and trims. Washing machines and dryers are especially tough on your Mentionables, so whenever possible follow the hand wash and care instructions. Here are our best tips on caring for your lingerie.

HAND WASH:

1. Spot Clean:

Dab any stains with an alcohol-free detergent and warm water. Gently rub with a towel until stains lift. If necessary, repeat this process. If your lingerie is stain-free, move on to step number 2.

2. Prepare Soak: 

Fill a clean sink with cool or lukewarm water. Add a small amount of detergent and create a bath of suds for your Mentionables.

3. Soak and Rinse:

Pop your Mentionables into the prepared bath and let them soak for 10-15 minutes. Gently lather before rinsing under cool water.

4. Air Dry: 

Lay your clean Mentionables flat on a towel and press with another towel to remove excess water. Leave to air-dry to extend the life span of your Mentionables.

GENERAL CARE:

  • Hand Wash:
    •

    Hand wash your Mentionables. They will thank you for it by lasting much longer!

  • Say NO to the Dryer:
    •

    Never put your lingerie in a dryer, either lay flat or hang dry.

  • No Snags!
    •

    Close any hooks and closures and avoid placing anything rough or abrasive next to the more delicate items.

  • Keeping your Mentionables Pretty:
    •

    Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.

     

    MACHINE WASH:

    If you prefer the time-saving of using a washing machine, follow our machine  instructions to extend the life of your lingerie. To protect your garments from snags and tears, we strongly recommend using a lingerie wash bag if you go this route.

    1. Spot Clean:

    2. Prepare:

    Always wash like-colored items together. Close all the hooks and snaps of everything you’re putting in and add everything to your lingerie wash bag. 

    3. Machine Wash:

    Put your Mentionables in the machine with alcohol-free detergent and wash on the delicate cycle of your washing machine.

    4. Dry:

    Lay your clean Mentionables flat on a towel or hang to air-dry to extend the lifespan of your Mentionables.
